Mikan picking
In Febuary, my Japanese friend and I decided to go to the North part of the island and pick Mikan (tangerines). It was the last week of the season and no one was there. She speaks japaneses so I assumed there would be no lost in translation. We were told it would be about $5 each to fill a bag full and we could eat as many as we wanted while on the farm. Excited by how cheap this was, we filled the bag completely full, stuffed our bellies with tangerines and decided to leave. When we were leaving, the farmer asked to weigh our bag. We had to pay by pound! Oops!! Ended up buying $20 each worth of tangerines. Ian was gone for two weeks so I ended up eating tangerines for breakfast, lunch and dinner and also giving some to all my neighbors. I won't be able to look at tangerines again but it was a great memory with my friend!
